Organic Salad Mix
I’m a sucker for a good greens mix, and my favorite to date is the Organic Salad from Wild Work Farm in Keene Valley. A good mix of bitter bites and mellow leaves, it’s always fresh and flavorful. It’s great for salad, of course, but I also like to pile the greens on sandwiches, which makes the sandwiches so much more interesting, and on pizza, especially a white pie. I’m also a fan of Wild Work’s arugula, which I use as a bed for sliced steak or crispy chicken cutlets. I also love it tossed with hot pasta, olives, and feta cheese for the simplest of suppers.
Thanks to their hoop houses, their tender greens are available during all but the coldest winter months, another plus.
Where to get it: Look for Wild Work Farm’s greens as well as its other produce in local markets like Nori’s Village Market in Saranac Lake, Valley Grocery in Keene Valley, and at the Keene farmer’s market.
These greens are not only great for salad, they also make sandwiches special.
