Who we are

ADKbites is a website for people who love the Adirondacks and love good food. A sister site to CTbites.com, it showcases the delicious bites you can find at restaurants, food markets, farmstands, breweries, and more - all within the Blue Line (and, occasionally, just outside of it).

Its founder, Joanne Smart, was a senior editor at a national food magazine and has written cookbooks with chefs like Scott Conant of “Chopped” fame. After years of visiting the Adirondacks to hike, bike, ski, and snowshoe, she and her husband finally built a home in Essex County.

Our approach

We’re going to explore the park, find noteworthy food and drink, and share our experiences with you so that you know what to expect when you visit. With the exception of events, roundups, and sponsored content, we have sampled every restaurant, bakery, coffee shop, and ice cream stand we write about.

This is an editorial site, but we only write about places we think are worth your time. If we have a bad experience, the establishment does not get reviewed (though we may offer feedback directly in the hope of encouraging improvement). Our goal is to not only celebrate dining in the Dacks, but to help elevate it as well.

That said, it’s a big park, and we are a small team. For that reason, we encourage you to reach out to us with places you think we need to try.
